- Ashikaga Yoshimasa 足利義政 (1436-1490)
- The 8th Shogun in Muromachi period. Learned tea by Murata Shuko. Built "Togudo" in Ginkakuji in Kyoto. The 4.5 tatami mat room in Togudo is said the first chashitsu (tea room).
- 室町時代八代将軍。村田珠光に師事。京都東山に銀閣寺を建立し、東求堂を建てた。その一室(4畳半)は茶室の始まりといわれる。
