Ashikaga Yoshimasa　足利義政　(1436-1490)
The 8th Shogun in Muromachi period. Learned tea by Murata Shuko. Built "Togudo" in Ginkakuji in Kyoto. The 4.5 tatami mat room in Togudo is said the first chashitsu (tea room).
室町時代八代将軍。村田珠光に師事。京都東山に銀閣寺を建立し、東求堂を建てた。その一室（４畳半）は茶室の始まりといわれる。

Learned Tea by Furuta Oribe. Tought Tea to the Third Shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu in Edo period. Founder of "Enshuryu" way of tea.
古田織部について茶をなし、江戸三代将軍徳川家光の師範となる。遠州流の始祖。造園、建築に深く貢献する。

Sen Rikyu　千 利休
In the 16th century, Sen Rikyu established the foundations of chanoyu as we know them today. After his death, his descendants established three Sen houses, which have passed on his Way of Tea.　
今日に続く茶の湯の始祖。利休の孫、宗旦の３人の息子によって、三千家として、引き継がれ、発展。今日に至る。
